I met Maura shortly after I arrived in Hong Kong in 2005. At the time I was Head of Talent Management, Asia Pacific for Avon and we worked as colleagues in supporting the coaching of a senior executive in the organization. I found Maura to be very professional in her approach to the coaching assignment and determined in her mission to achieve the fullest potential for both the individual and the organization from her intervention.
Maura invited me to join the AmCham Senior HR Forum (SHRM), a network group for senior HR professionals in Hong Kong which she had co-founded. Maura has been very generous in her support of the HR community in Hong Kong and facilitated co-operation amongst both local and multinational organizations, most impressively throughout the SARS crisis with the founding with the SHRM. The founding of the SHRM paved the way for future sharing and policy development across organizational boundaries on other workplace issues and the group continues as a strong voice in the HK HR community.
Maura has also been instrumental in promoting the development of women in the HKSAR through her involvement in the AmCham Women of Influence Committee. Again as a founding member of the Committee, Maura has supported the development and celebration of the exceptional female talent in the SAR through the annual Women of Influence Conference and Awards.
